Position: Substitute General Education Aide (Lunch/Recess) (Retired School Employee)
Work Year: Ten Months (August through May)
Work Days: Monday - Friday (School Calendar for Students)
School Schedule: Elementary Daily Schedule 8:45 a.m. - 3:45 p.m.; Secondary Daily Schedule 7:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Hourly Rate: $13.75/hour
Duration of Position: TBD
Schedule: 2.5 hours/day
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Monitors student behavior and supervises students when necessary during lunch periods in the cafeteria and recess on the playground or in the gymnasium.
- Wiping tables between lunches and assisting students when help is needed to get their lunches;
- Assigned to help teachers when the number of students reach a designated count; and
- Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma (or equivalent).
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written English language;
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, emails and memos; and
- Ability to work with the general public and students.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Basic computer skills.
QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS:
- Ability to perform duties with awareness of District requirements and Board policies / administrative guidelines;
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to communicate effectively, speaking clearly and communicating thoughts;
- Patience with children.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to coordinate hands, eyes, feet and limbs in performing movements to monitor the behavior and assist multiple students at one time. The employee is required to be on their feet walking around the cafeteria and playground/gymnasium for the duration of each shift. The employee is required to exert light to medium physical effort in work involving wiping down cafeteria tables, carrying, pushing, walking, standing, reaching with hands and arms, balancing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching to assist students. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distant vision and ability to adjust focus.

The work environment involves the employee being indoors within controlled climate conditions and outdoors which will include varying weather conditions, for purposes of accomplishing the essential functions of this job.
