Position Title: Food Service Assistant #12
Location: Howell High School 10-12
Reports To: Kitchen Manager, Food Service Director and/or Principal/Assistant Principal
Status: Ten (10) month position (4.75 hrs/day; M-F 8:45 a.m.-1:30 p.m.)
First day of school for students - Last day of school for students
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
SUMMARY:
The Food Service Assistant provides support in our student nutrition program by working in our school cafeterias by preparing and serving food, cleaning and sanitizing all items and areas within the department, handling food purchase transactions, all while providing excellent customer service to staff and students.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
? Assist FSA#11 with making and cooking Smart Mouth personal pizzas until lunch starts.
? Run a cash register during all lunch periods.
? In between lunches, replenish cooler if needed with pizza items (cheese, sauce, pepperoni)
needed to make more pizzas for the next day and date mark all items.
? In between lunches, help wipe pizza pans or spray cooled pizza pans with pan spray.
? Perform cash out procedure at the end of the last lunch.
? Pull frozen pizza dough from the walk-in freezer. Record case information on log.
? Place individual frozen pizza dough pucks into personal pizza pans, stack them, place on a
designated rolling rack then push the rolling into the walk-in cooler.
? Clean and sanitize work area and countertops.
? Help of wipe down tables out in the cafeteria and commons.
? Fit in a 15 minute paid lunch break.
? Help clean coolers, ovens, hot carts, and other equipment according to schedule.
? Clean kitchen bathroom per schedule set by Kitchen Manager.
? Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
? Regular, predictable in-person attendance.
? Any other duties assigned by the Kitchen Manager or Food Service Supervisor.

Service Supervisor.
Note: Food Service Employees running a register need to keep all computer register components clean and free of dust. This includes: computer register/monitor, keyboard, mouse, cord and computer stand.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma (or equivalent); and must pass a basic math skills test.

- Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written English language;
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions;
- Ability to work with the general public and students.

- Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, parents, teachers, administration and the school community.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to coordinate hands, eyes, feet and limbs in performing semi-skilled movements such as cooking, washing dishes and operation of a computer keyboard, cash register, and telephone. The employee is required to be on his/her feet walking around the cafeteria and food service department building for several hours at a time. The employee is required to exert physical effort in work involving lifting, carrying, pushing, walking, standing, reaching with hands and arms, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds from floor to waist height. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.

The work environment characteristics described herein are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The work environment is normally indoors with controlled climate conditions. Occasionally the employee may be required to be outdoors for a short period of time, and therefore subject to varying weather conditions, for purposes of accomplishing the essential functions of this job. This position requires the employee to work in different building cafeteria and food service departments as needed. The ability to travel via employee’s automobile between buildings is required.
