Early Childhood Program

 

Position: Early Childhood Assistant Teachers (Positions will be hired via EDUStaff)

 

LocationHowell Public Schools - Little Highlanders Learning Center

 

Hours:  30-40 hours/week; Monday through Friday; 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM

 

Wage Rate:  Starting at $15.50/hour or more based upon experience/education and/or certification

 

Benefits:  Paid time off including holidays, vacation and Act of God days


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Must maintain a positive and professional attitude.
  • Must be caring and patient.
  • Must work well with others.
  • Ensure the daily care of every child by following all licensing and program guidelines.
  • Implement strong classroom management.
  • Have daily communication with parents.
  • Supervise children in the classroom and on the playground at all times.
  • Regular, predictable, in-person attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

None.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Experience working with children.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Qualifications/certification to substitute in any of the Early Childhood Programs preferred (Preschool, Childcare, Kids Kare)
  • Infant/Child/Adult First Aid/CPR Certificate required within 90 days of hire.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from parents, administrators, students, staff and the general public consistent with the duties of this position.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and correspondence.  
  • Must have phone skills and communicate with people over the phone.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. 
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.

ENVIRONMENTAL ADAPTABILITY:

The work environment is normally indoors with controlled climate conditions.  Occasionally the employee may be required to be outdoors for a short period of time, and therefore subject to varying weather conditions, for purposes of accomplishing the essential functions of this job.
